Above: "Inspiration," a video of world music and thought from the wonderful One Giant Leap Project. (More information on the project can be found here, in a previous post.)
Below: My favorite music video from One Giant Leap (which is also my favorite video period). I've posted it here before once or twice, but it still stirs my soul anew every time I watch it. . . and that's a good way to start a new year, it seems to me: connected through music, myth, language and imagery to others all around the world.
Happy New Year, everyone. I'm determined to go into 2012 with a positive outlook: re-dedicated to the Muse, to the land, to the Mythic Arts field, and to living the Artist's Life. . . but I do have to admit that I'm awfully darn glad to see the end of 2011. Lordy, what a year!
To the Spirit of the Year 2011: Thank you for all you have taught me (albeit the hard way) about the resilience of the human body and spirit, and the beautiful strength of communities both physical and virtual.
To the Spirit of the Year 2012: May your lessons be kinder, simpler, sweeter, and a whole lot more conducive to the making of art.
I wish the same for all of you.
